About the Artist
Susan Goracy

My interior design background has enabled me to incorporate various design elements into the custom jewelry I design & create.  The variety of components & elements incorporated into the creation of my jewelry includes a wide use of color combinations, texture, form, balance, and ornament/charms.

My sole inspiration comes from the earth and the sea.
Living in the FL Keys has enabled me to not only appreciate the beautiful tropical environment, but to experience nature first hand.  Communing with manatees, dolphins, snorkeling/diving & viewing seahorse, crabs, lobster, exotic reef fish, even sharks! is an experience I'll forever cherish; and hope to express in my jewelry creations.  Walking amongst tropical vegetation and viewing geckos, iguanas, unusual birds & insects, and frogs brings me back to nature, and enables me to create semi-precious jewelry with healing qualities.
The jewelry I create may be asymmetrical or symmetrical in nature and consist of semi-precious gemstones, agates, freshwater pearls, shells, coral, crystals, hand-carved tagua nuts (made by Panama Indians), fiber, glass, and other interesting ingredients.

This journey has also led me to fuse glass.  I design & create dichroic glass pendants, earrings, bracelets, and other fused glass creations.  See: Starry Night Creations

I grew up in a wonderful small town in New Jersey, Metuchen, where I learned & perfected many of the skills in the needle arts (x-stitch, needlepoint, sewing) I have today.  My travels have taken me from New Jersey to Atlanta, Chicago, and finally my present base here in the FL Keys.
